Dr. Joseph “Youssef” Bakhach was born in Zahle, on 23 April 1964 into a Melkite Greek Catholic family. Currently he is Professor of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery in the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He attended Ecole des Saints Cœurs, Zahle, following which he graduated in 1992 from University of Medicine in Bordeaux-France in Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and he earned in 1994 a Ph.D. in Human Biology Science from the same University. Since 1996, he is an active member of multiple national, regional and international scientific societies in the field of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Hand & Microsurgery and in Aesthetic & Cosmetic Surgery who is serving as an active member and in the editorial board of some of them. In 2017 he co-founded the Pan Arab Federation for Reconstructive Microsurgery and he was elected as the Federation first president.
